Welcome to Morocco!

You will be greeted by your driver/guide at the Tangier Port (or Tangier Airport) and transferred to your hotel in Tangier. Your driver will be holding a sign with the name of our agency, Tiziri Travel.

Tangier Sightseeing – Chefchaouen

In the morning, begin your exploration of the northern Moroccan city of Tangier.

After breakfast at your hotel, meet your driver to embark on a journey through Tangier, discovering the unique culture of this northern city. The visit includes the following attractions:

  • Cape Spartel:
    Declared a nature reserve, Cape Spartel features a lighthouse built in the mid-19th century by architect François Léonce Reynad, who drew inspiration from mosque designs. The lighthouse stands 30 meters tall, with a beacon visible up to 23 nautical miles away.

  • The Hercules Caves:
    A visit to the Hercules caves is a must, rich in legend and mythology. According to legend, Hercules rested in these caves after separating the land to create the Strait of Gibraltar, placing a pillar on each continent. Inside the caves, observe the traces of past quarry activities, which form a unique sgraffito effect, while enjoying the sound of the crashing waves.

Later in the afternoon, transfer to the blue city of Chefchaouen.

Chefchaouen – Fes

Enjoy a self-guided walking tour through Chefchaouen in the morning.

  • Explore the Charming Whitewashed Streets of Chefchaouen:
    Wander the picturesque streets of Chefchaouen, a city nestled in the Rif Mountains, known for its whitewashed buildings adorned with varying shades of blue. Stroll along cobblestone alleys and stairways, discovering weaving studios and leather workshops where skilled artisans carry on traditional crafts. Visit the red walls of the kasbah and a medieval fortress in the peaceful Outa el Hamman square. Look out for the octagonal minaret of the Great Mosque towering above the rooftops.

After lunch, continue your journey to Fes.

Fes – Fes City Tour with Local Guide

After breakfast at your riad, embark on a guided tour of Fes, Morocco’s oldest city. Your exploration will include important historical sites, such as:

  • Royal Palace Gates

  • Mellah (Jewish Quarter): The oldest Jewish quarter in Morocco, dating back to the 14th century.

  • Al Quaraouiyine University: Founded in the 9th century, it is the oldest continually operating university in the world.

  • Fez Leather Tanneries: Discover the famous leather tanneries, a true marvel of craftsmanship.

  • Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss: The most significant Muslim pilgrimage site in Morocco.

Later, you will have the opportunity to visit a traditional tile cooperative to learn how Morocco’s iconic tiles are made.

Fes – Day Trip to Meknes and Volubilis – Fes

After breakfast, we depart for Meknes and Volubilis.

Your day begins with a tour of the monumental walls of Meknes, which include gates like the Berdaïne Bab and Bab Khemis. Explore the stables (Rua), attics (HERI), and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, the only mosque that non-Muslims could visit for centuries in Morocco. Exit through the famous Bab Mansour El, leading to El Hedim Square, the “square of demolition,” built after the Sultan of Morocco, Moulay Ismail, demolished half of Meknes to make space for his palace.

Next, continue to Volubilis, one of the best-preserved Roman ruins in North Africa and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Founded in the 3rd century BC, Volubilis flourished as a provincial capital, famous for olive oil and grain production. Explore the well-preserved mosaics, columns, and arches, and learn about the mix of Roman and indigenous culture reflected in the site’s architecture.

Return to Fes in the afternoon.

Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Sahara Desert

Travel along the stunning Atlas Mountain range.

After breakfast, depart Fes for Merzouga, passing through Ifrane, a charming mountain town known as the “Switzerland of Morocco.” During this journey, you’ll experience views of the Middle Atlas and High Atlas Mountains, passing through Berber villages and the famous Cedar Forest – the largest of its kind in Morocco, where you might spot Barbary apes.

Continue on to Midelt for lunch, then head through the Tiz Ntalghamt Pass and the spectacular Ziz Gorge, offering stunning views of the High Atlas plateau and glimpses of the desert landscape as you approach Errachidia and the Ziz Valley.

Arriving in Merzouga in the afternoon, embark on a camel ride through the Sahara Desert dunes, leading to your desert camp for the night.

Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Wake up early in the morning for what might be the best sunrise of your life. You’ll set off into the Sahara Sand Dunes of Erg Chebbi to witness the stunning sunrise. Afterward, return to the camp for breakfast. Then, enjoy a peaceful camel trek back to the village of Merzouga, taking in the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi sand dunes as the light shifts throughout the day.

Upon reaching Merzouga, you’ll meet your driver again to continue towards Dades. You may stop at Rissani to visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Chref, the founder of the Alaouite dynasty. Then, continue on to Arfoud to visit the fossilized marble factory before heading to Todra Valley for lunch. Once in Todra, take a leisurely 30-minute walk to explore the famous gorges. You’ll also visit the palm grove and the Jewish quarter. The Todra Gorges are Morocco’s highest and narrowest gorges, formed by the Todra River, creating towering vertical walls of breathtaking beauty. It’s a paradise for climbers and a unique place to explore.

In the evening, drive through the Dades Valley, where you’ll see the majestic “sand castles” and the incredible rock formations known as “monkey toes.” Your overnight stay will be at a charming guest house with a view of the Dades Valley.

Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Hadou – Marrakech

After breakfast, you’ll journey through the Dades Valley toward Ouarzazate and then continue to Marrakech. This route, known as the “Way of a Thousand Kasbahs,” offers numerous opportunities for fantastic photography along the way.

You’ll stop at Kalaat M’Gouna, the heart of the Rose Valley, where you have the option to visit a rose cooperative and purchase rosewater, which will keep your linen smelling fresh long after your trip.

Next, continue towards Marrakech via the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, built by Et Hami El Glaoui, a 19th-century Berber chieftain. This Kasbah now serves as a home for many Glaoui family members.

Your journey will then take you through the majestic Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 meters) in the High Atlas Mountains, where you’ll have the opportunity to visit a cooperative that produces Argan oil, which is unique to Morocco and made by Berber women, before arriving at your overnight accommodation in Marrakech.

Marrakech City Tour with Local Guide

After breakfast at your hotel or riad, you’ll embark on a guided tour of Marrakech, the “Red City” of Morocco. Your exploration will include the city’s most significant historical and cultural landmarks, including the Koutoubia Tower, the Saadian Tombs, the Bahia Palace, and the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa Square.

Following lunch at a restaurant near the square, you will wander through the souks, viewing hundreds of Moroccan handicrafts. In the afternoon, you’ll have free time to explore other parts of the city at your leisure.

If you wish, you can also visit the Majorelle Gardens.

Marrakech is known as the “Red City” for its iconic red sandstone buildings and city walls. It has Berber roots and was once a significant trading hub for tribes from the Atlas Mountains.

Wander through the labyrinthine souks to discover items like spices, woodwork, and traditional Moroccan slippers (babouches). Admire the architecture of the Ben Youssef Madrasa, a 16th-century Koranic school with exquisite details like carved cedar ceilings, sculpted plaster, and zellij tiling.

Marrakech – Marrakech Free Day

Take a free day to immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Marrakech. You can explore the Medina, with its narrow winding streets, bustling markets (souks), and traditional Moroccan goods such as spices, textiles, and pottery.

For lunch, try a traditional Moroccan dish like tagine, couscous, or pastilla. Popular spots include Le Tobsil and Al Fassia, or you can find many delightful eateries around Jemaa el-Fnaa Square.

Stroll through Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, where you’ll encounter street performers, snake charmers, and food stalls. This is an ideal place to soak in the local atmosphere.

Visit the Medina of Essaouira, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with its maze of narrow streets, lively markets, and traditional Moroccan architecture. Next, head to the Port of Essaouira, a bustling area where local fishermen bring in their daily catch, offering great photo opportunities and a chance to observe local life.

Afterward, relax on the sandy beach, take a camel ride, or try water sports like windsurfing and kite surfing.
