Itinerary
Day 1: Fes to Sahara Desert of Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Dunes)
Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Ziz Valley – Sahara Desert of Merzouga.
After breakfast, you will depart from Fes on your journey to the Merzouga Desert, passing through Midelt and the Ziz Valley. Today’s route takes you through Ifrane, a charming mountain village often referred to as the Switzerland of Morocco.
As you travel, you will witness stunning views of the Middle Atlas and High Atlas mountains, making a stop in the middle of the famous cedar forest, the largest in Morocco, where you may have the opportunity to spot the Barbary apes.
Your journey continues to Midelt, nestled among the beautiful hills and mountains of the Atlas. After lunch in Midelt, you will continue on through the fascinating Tiz Ntalghamt pass and the stunning Ziz Gorge, where you can enjoy views of the High Atlas plateau. As you approach the southeastern city of Errachidia, you will begin to see the desert landscape unfold.
Next, you’ll travel along the breathtaking Ziz Valley, stopping to take in panoramic views en route to Erfoud and Rissani. In the afternoon, you will arrive in Merzouga, where you will embark on a camel ride through the dunes of the Sahara Desert to your desert camp for the night.

Day 2: Todra Gorges and Dades Valley
Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley.
Today, you will wake up early to experience what might be the best sunrise of your life. You will watch the sun rise over the majestic Erg Chebbi sand dunes, a truly mesmerizing sight. After sunrise, you will return to the camp for a hearty breakfast. Then, you will peacefully camel trek back to the village of Merzouga, where you will have the chance to appreciate the changing light and unique beauty of the dunes as the day progresses.
Once in Merzouga, you will meet the driver again to continue the journey towards Dades. You will have the option to stop in Rissani to visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Chref, the founder of the Alaouite dynasty, before continuing to Arfoud to visit a fossilized marble factory. From there, you will head to the Todra Valley for lunch.
In Todra, you can take a short, scenic walk to explore the Todra Gorges, which are known for their towering rock walls, forming some of the most dramatic and narrowest gorges in Morocco. The Todra River has carved out these enormous vertical walls of rock, creating a stunning and unique landscape that is also a climber’s paradise.
In the evening, you will continue your drive through the Dades Valley, known for its remarkable sandcastle formations and unique rock structures known as “monkey toes”. You will spend the night in a charming guest house overlooking the Dades Valley.
Day 3: Ouarzazate and Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou
Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech.
After breakfast at your accommodation, you will begin your journey through the Dades Valley, traveling towards Ouarzazate and then on to Marrakech.
The road through the Dades Valley is famously known as the “Way of a Thousand Kasbahs”, offering numerous opportunities for incredible photographic shots.
You will make a stop at Kalaat M’Gouna, the heart of the rose valley, where you can visit a rose cooperative to purchase rosewater, which will remind you of your journey long after it’s over.
Continue on to Marrakech, with a visit to the impressive Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah along the way. Built by Et Hami El Glaoui, one of the last Berber chieftains in the 19th century, the kasbah has since become a prominent site and was used as a backdrop for many Hollywood films.
Your journey continues over the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m) in the High Atlas Mountains, where you will have the opportunity to learn about the process of producing Argan oil, a product found only in Morocco, created by Berber women in their cooperative.
Your tour will conclude in Marrakech.
