Itinerary
Our 7-day Morocco adventure begins in Casablanca, where we’ll explore the city’s main landmarks before heading to Rabat, the capital. After touring Rabat’s key attractions and monuments, we’ll drive to Meknes and Fes, where we will spend the night in a local hotel.
After breakfast at your Riad, your exploration of Morocco’s cultural capital, Fes, will begin. Fes is renowned for its rich cultural heritage, traditions, and gastronomy. You’ll take a walk through its ancient Medina, navigating its narrow streets and alleys. Key sites include the Royal Palace gate, the Blue Gate, and the Jewish quarter (Mellah), the first of its kind in Morocco, established in the 14th century. You’ll also visit the historic Al Qaraouine University, the world’s oldest, as well as the Tanneries and the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum. After lunch, we will stop by a tile cooperative before heading to a viewpoint to take in a stunning panoramic view of the Medina. Overnight will be at the same Riad.
After breakfast, we’ll begin our journey toward Merzouga, passing through Ifrane, a picturesque mountain town often called the “Switzerland of Morocco.” We’ll also stop at the cedar forest in the Middle Atlas Mountains, where you can spot the Barbary apes. Continuing through Azrou, a Berber village, we will proceed to Midelt, known for its mountains and stunning landscapes. After lunch in Midelt, we’ll travel through the Tiz Ntalghamt pass and the Ziz Gorge, taking in the changing scenery as we approach Errachidia. We will pass through the scenic Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views before reaching Erfoud and Rissani. Finally, we will arrive in Merzouga, where we will be welcomed with a glass of mint tea. Afterward, we’ll embark on a camel ride across the Sahara dunes to reach our desert camp for the night.
You’ll wake up early this morning for a breathtaking sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes in the Sahara. Afterward, we’ll return to the camp for breakfast and then ride camels back to Merzouga. As we continue our journey to Dades, we can stop in Rissani to visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Chref, the founder of the Alaouite dynasty. We’ll also visit the Arfoud fossilized marble factory before heading to Todra Valley for lunch. In Todra, you can take a short walk to explore the gorges and the surrounding palm groves and Jewish quarter. The Todra Gorges are known for their impressive vertical cliffs, making it a popular spot for climbers. Later, we’ll drive through Dades Valley, known for its stunning sand castles and rock formations like the “monkey toes.” We’ll spend the night at a charming guesthouse overlooking the Dades Valley.
After breakfast, we’ll begin our drive through the Dades Valley towards Ouarzazate and onward to Marrakech. Known as the “Way of the Thousand Kasbahs,” this route offers countless opportunities for photography. We will stop at Kalaat M’Gouna, the heart of the Rose Valley, where you can visit a local rose cooperative to purchase rosewater. Our journey continues to Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site. After exploring the Kasbah, we will head towards Marrakech via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 meters), crossing the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to see the process of Argan oil production by Berber women in their cooperative before reaching Marrakech for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, you’ll begin your exploration of Marrakech, the “Red City.” You’ll visit significant historical and cultural landmarks, including the Majorelle Gardens, Koutoubia Tower, Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, and the vibrant Jemaa el-Fna Square. After lunch at a restaurant near the square, you’ll have the opportunity to wander through the souks and discover the diverse handicrafts on offer. Marrakech’s old town, with its red sandstone buildings, was founded by Berbers and served as an important trade hub. The souks, especially Souk el Attarin, Souk Chouari, and Souk Smata, are famous for spices, woodwork, and traditional Moroccan slippers. You’ll also visit the Tanneries Souk and admire the detailed Moroccan Islamic architecture of the Ben Youssef Madrasa.
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your departure.
