Itinerary
To begin your incredible 8-day Morocco desert tour from Fes to Marrakech, you can arrive either at Casablanca International Airport or Rabat International Airport if landing directly at Fes International Airport is not possible. Our driver-guide will transfer you directly to Fes, the “Old City.” Dinner and overnight stay in a local Riad or hotel located in the heart of the Medina.
After breakfast, you’ll start exploring one of Morocco’s most historical and cultural cities. In Fes, known as “the spiritual city of Morocco,” you will visit the medina—the old city—with its unique architecture. The guided tour includes visits to several landmarks such as the Jewish Quarter (Mellah), the Dar El Makhzen (Royal Palace) with its colorful mosaics and golden doors, and the renowned Chaouwara Tanneries, the city’s largest leather workshop dating back to the 11th century.
You’ll also see the Kairaouine Mosque (one of the oldest universities in the world), which non-Muslims can admire from its gates, the Najjarine Marble Fountain, and the Al-Attarine Madrasa, famous for its stunning Islamic architecture. Additionally, you’ll visit the Bou Inania Medersa, considered one of the most beautiful theological colleges in Fes.
You’ll have lunch at a local Moroccan restaurant. Later, you’ll explore Bab Boujloud, the iconic archway whose mosaics change color from blue outside to green inside, reflecting the sacred color of Islam. After strolling through the medina’s markets and alleys, we’ll take you to a panoramic viewpoint to enjoy a breathtaking view of Fes El-Bali. Dinner and overnight stay at the same Riad in the medina.
After breakfast, you’ll depart from Fes towards Merzouga via Midelt and the Ziz Valley.
Along the way, you’ll pass through Ifrane, a charming mountain town often called the “Switzerland of Morocco.” You’ll also stop in the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas Mountains, where you might spot Barbary apes. Continuing through Berber villages like Azrou and the rolling hills of the Atlas Mountains, you’ll reach Midelt for lunch.
Your journey then proceeds through the stunning Tiz Ntalghamt Pass and the Ziz Gorge, offering views of the High Atlas plateau as the landscape gradually changes towards desert scenery near Errachidia. Following the Ziz Valley and stops for scenic views, you’ll head toward Erfoud and Rissani before arriving in Merzouga. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed with a glass of mint tea, then embark on a camel ride across the Sahara Desert dunes to reach your desert camp for the night.
Your camel guide will wake you early to witness a magnificent sunrise over the Sahara.
You’ll then ride back peacefully to Merzouga village, taking in the incredible Erg Chebbi dunes as they shift colors throughout the morning.
After breakfast and a refreshing shower in the Riad, you’ll drive to Rissani, Tinghir, and eventually to the Todra Gorges—the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco. After enjoying lunch amidst the dramatic cliffs, the journey continues through the beautiful Dades Valley, known for its majestic sandcastles and surreal rock formations, nicknamed “monkey toes.” Overnight stay at a charming guest house overlooking the Dades Valley, with dinner and breakfast included.
After breakfast, you’ll set off through the Dades Valley towards Ouarzazate and then Marrakech.
The route, famously known as the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs,” offers endless photo opportunities.
You’ll stop at Kalaat M’Gouna, the heart of Morocco’s Rose Valley, where you can visit a local cooperative producing rosewater and beauty products.
The trip continues toward the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a historic fortified village built by Et Hami El Glaoui in the 19th century, now home to many Glaoui descendants.
Crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the breathtaking Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m), you’ll stop at a women’s cooperative producing traditional Argan oil before reaching Marrakech for your overnight stay.
After breakfast in your Riad, you’ll begin exploring Marrakech, known as “the Red City of Morocco.”
The guided city tour includes visits to the Majorelle Gardens, Koutoubia Tower, Saadian Tombs, and Bahia Palace.
After lunch at a restaurant near the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, you’ll stroll through the lively souks and marvel at the vibrant handicrafts.
Later, you’ll have some free time to explore other parts of the city on your own.
After breakfast at your hotel, you’ll travel from Marrakech to Casablanca—a journey of about two and a half hours.
Upon arrival, you’ll visit the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, the largest in Casablanca.
The tour continues to Rabat, Morocco’s capital, where you’ll visit sites like Bab Challah, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, one of the royal palace gates, and the Oudaya Kasbah.
After lunch at a local restaurant, you’ll head straight to Fes to check into your hotel.
